summer's almost over :[

I always know summer is coming to an end when i try and squish in "one last time" of every activity that's summer.  It's not that im sad, it's just that the kids go back to school...the freedom of the days are lost to homework, lessons and early bedtime.  Otherwise, i'm usually pretty excited for the cooler breezes and the color change!
This week i was nervous about getting in a hot dog and marshmellow roast, something that has been a big part of our summer this year.  So, i invited over the kids Cait was tending for the weekend and CJ invited the Ashcrofts.  Once again...we had a blast!  We will all have great memories of sitting around the fire pit during the summer of 2010!  So many people shared in our fun...boyfriends, friends, neighbors, family, and our animals.  I don't really know why that was the entertainment we resorted to so much this summer season...it just happened.
I'm SOOOO grateful for the good times, conversations and parties we have had around that old fire pit this year :]  It all started with a "school's out party" for Sadie and her friends.  Then Caitlyn used it more than once for a "cheap" (but fun) date.  We as a little family would sit around it and just stare at the beautiful flames and laugh and talk about the future.  Neighbors would stop by after a walk or to say hi, and we would tell them to pull up a camp chair and stick a dog or mellow on a poker and stay a while.  Our horses and Axl and Eddy loved to be out in the arena watching and sitting by us.  Some cats would even show up to join in the fun...but that didn't last long when they realized they would just turn into target practice for CJ (no cat's were harmed in the making of this fun-ness)!  Then it seemed to almost end the way it started...with Sadie having a party, this time for her birthday.  She even received her first kiss because of this fire pit party...Kade Krahenbuhl...whoot, whew!
So as summer comes to an end and the fire pit is almost burned out, i sit here happy with the thoughts that something so simple created so much fun for so many people!
family time....ahhh, relaxing

the "schools out" party

eliza, cait & liz "camo'd out" to sneek & hide around the fire pit and possibly scare the  youngers :]
dave and jonah...just some of the family that came to enjoy some roasted hot dogs!

that "first kiss" thing happened shortly after some time spent next to the fire pit (Kade & Sadie) ;]

cait is sitting with some neighbors we shared our fun times with (Collette Ashcroft & Caden Knight)
