KONA 2010 IronMan World Championship!

My bucket list has about 15ish things on it.  One is to spectate a World Championship Ironman in Kona, Hawaii.  Well, guess what....WE DID IT!  It was fabulous and the most intense day I've ever spent spectating a race.  When 'they' say the energy is strong, it's an understatement...it's almost overbearing!  It's a buzz you can hear...it's unexplainable.  I seriously had a migraine that came on a day BEFORE the race, just visiting the venue and booths...so you can only imagine the buzz on actual race day!  However, race day had a more exciting buzz...it wasn't as overbearing, but it was unexplainable and completely sensational!
Last year Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington won...by incredible margines.  So for 1 whole year CJ and I have been predicting that they will probably take the title again because they both run like machines!
Morning of the race it was announced that Chrissie had some sort of illness and couldn't compete.  That changed things up.  So immediately we knew Mirinda Carfrae would win it for the women...we were right!  She is a cute mom with amazing performance ability!
Another shocker was that Alexander just didn't pull it out on the bike like he should of to make up time in the run...so he came in 4th.  HOLY COW...I'm standing there, with my BF Kay, and who should run around the corner in 1st?  MACCA!  My favorite bad boy ironman from day one!  Chris Mccormack was the machine that day.  Took the  title!  What a bitter-sweet surprise :]
Standing there on october 10th, seeing with my own eyes, my favorite triathelets compete was a miracle.  Wow!  That's something I really never thought I'd do.  Craig Alexander, Chrissie Wellington, Chris McCormack, Belinda Granger, Norman Stadler and Michael Lavato!  They were all there and ran by me at a mere arms reach away!  AWESOME!  I just can't describe it...it's a grueling sport in which some very awe-inspiring athletes are challenged.  I can honestly say...I will never feel the spark to actually become a triathlete, but holy crap it will always be my favorite sport to spectate and support (hockey running a close second)!  You have to see it to feel it, but the Kona Ironman just DEMANDS you to RESPECT it :]
