Starting a childrens book club is an awesome concept i came up with about 6 years ago. Caitlyn was still being tested bi-yearly for her seizures and i was getting more and more frustrated with the public school system and it's lack of interest when it came to children who just couldn't retain what they were learning. I thought, "How cool would it be if, after being taught a lesson (or read a book), a child could immediately participate in creative, hands-on activities that pertained specifically to that lesson? They would retain so much more. Maybe it could train the brain to start holding onto what it was being taught (or read) a whole lot better?" An outstanding thought, if I do say so myself! But that's just not the way the school system worked. There was no help for my Caitlyn and it seemed hopeless.
So, 6 years later, here i am creating a book club that will do just that - train the brain to retain! Miss Lisa's Little Book Club...i never really thought of it as an actual 'thing' that would exsist. I wish I would have thought of it 12 years ago when my Cait needed it so badly. I think every child, a super genious or a wandering thinker, can benefit from my awesome idea (which I studied up on and is validated by almost every author of childrens studies from Stenhouse Publishing)! If you think I'm crazy, then check my ideas out www.misslisaslittlebookclub.blogspot.com and then check out the authors who share my same ideas at www.stenhouse.com, it won't take you long to see the common thread in our ideas.
I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, I was actually just amazed that my ideas paralelled those of brilliant authors of childrens studies! I've always said, "I'm not as dumb as everyone thinks!" Guess I'm not...he he he! Anyway, enjoy some of my pic's and ideas.....
