whimsy wednesday....

I have a little bit of an obsession with color and pattern.  That has to be the reason for my scrapbook paper collection...it's ginormous.  It's also a problem.  I still claim not to be a hoarder, but i'm not super convinced yet.  I tend to find lot's of scraps and left-overs, from previous projects, lying around.  I used to throw them away, but lately I've used them in other projects.   Here's how they turned out....

project "craft room"
This "craft room" page was a concept I came up with when I was going through a notebook and came across some notes and drawings I had filed away last year.  I still want to re-do my craft room, and still like how I designed it.  So I would never lose my design notes again....I scrapbooked them!  It's fun to create a page, every once in a while, with no pictures - it sparks creativity.  Very little was done to make this page great.  I found the tool and alphabet stickers in my sticker boxes, the ribbon and button were left overs from a calendar I made for my mom and the rest are just my notes.  Easy squeezy!

I don't remember which supplies I used (on these pages)...because it was all within arms reach on my desk.  But it's all pretty basic.  I scrapbook 12X12 most of the time, it's easier for me to design a page on 12X12.  I am also a VERY SIMPLE scrapbooker...I don't use all the fluff and extra's, too cluttered for me.

project "my favorite things"
Using some old notes, a picture of my dog and random supplies...I created "my favorite things" page.  This time I went to my drawer full of buttons and brads.  I found a half full, little bag, of white buttons, some unclaimed brads and a little daisy that strayed from it's pack.  All I had to look for was the green ribbon.  My notes were a little bigger this time so I decided to use a plain 12X12 page.  Thumbing through the yellow section of my paper file box, I found the yellow polka dot paper (which I used for the sun), it was ripped in half, but it coordinated perfectly with the plain yellow paper sitting behind it.  Worked out great for the corner of my page.  With a little 'doodling', some glue dots and a stapler my page was complete.  A piece of cake :]

project "Uncle Spencer's Cabin"
THIS is why I LOVE patterned paper!  When you are running short on supplies or just don't have the time or mind for a whole lot of creativity, no problem...the paper does the job for you!  I had only 2 great pictures from our weekend at Spencer's cabin and needed to stick them to a 12X12 sheet.  That leaves a bunch of empty space!  Not in the mood to create much on my page, I reach into one of my paper packs and found this cute paper with a beaver and flower on it.  HA!  I free-cut some clouds, traced them lightly with a black thin marker and glued them across the top.  Then I stuck the pic's on and doodled around the edges for a nice border.  I journaled our memories down the blank side of the page.  I thought I was finished, but it didn't seem quite right?  The ribbon drawer provided me with an answer...I cut 3 different patterned ribbons (2 inches each), folded them in half and stapled them to the bottom of the page.  That balanced it out and my page was done...YAY!

I love scrapbooking.  In my opinion, the simpler page the better it looks!

Peace out, be resourceful and stay inspired!
