"And Christ took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them. And when He had done this He wept again." (3 Nephi 17: 21-22)
I find this painting kind of interesting. Even with the large wall of fire and chaos....I can't help but think how realistic it actually is! Look at the children running around with happy faces, and the angels who are playing and running with them. Christ is in the middle holding a small girl closely, as if they are the only ones there. Surrounded by a wall of fire, the parents of these children were not allowed into this festivity. Christ administered to these children, blessed them and gave his undivided attention to them. How unbelievable that must of been. The above scripture (in full) is one of my most favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon. I, most definitely, have a tender spot for children...so knowing that Christ loved the children enough to spend a special moment with JUST them, and then upon leaving them he wept.... tenders my heart and brings tears to my eyes.
